History of the Carp and Crow Club

In the hopes that they may be of general interest, we will be sharing some pictures from the historical records of the Carp and Crow Club.  In this picture taken by Matthew Brady in 1864, Ulysses S Grant takes a much needed respite from the burdens of command to fish with members of the Carp and Crow Club in his officers corp, along the banks of the Ohio River.

For the last time, George, that is NOT a seahorse

Yes, I learned to fish from Joseph. Why do you ask?

The Carp & Crow Club Annual Meeting Minutes April 12, 2012

The Carp & Crow Club
143rd Annual Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2012

Presiding Officers:
Ossified Plutarch……………………Mr Terry F
Gelatinous Bedrock…………………Mr George W
Sergeant at Arms……………………Mr Jacinto (Tico) V
Supreme Minion…………………….Mr David R
Lugubrious Annelid…………………Mr Joseph C

Malevolent Chipmunks in attendance:  Joseph C Jr, Samuel R, Daniel R, Joseph V, Gabriel V

 Old Business:
1.     1. Mr Terry F has repeated his request that a plaque be placed at the south gate to memorialize the fact that he is the only club member to shoot a moose on club property.  He was reminded that the officers of the adjacent equestrian club insist that it was shot on their property.  They also state that if he does not return the saddle which he removed from the “moose”, they will press charges.

2.     2. We have completed the new Cuban Clubhouse.  We believe it is attractive and fits well with the original clubhouse.  Please remember that this clubhouse is for Cuban members only, and David no matter how many cigars you smoke you are still not Cuban.

New Business:
1.     1. A disbursement of $10,000 has been requested for repairs to the tour office at the Jack Daniels distillery.  If this money is not sent Mr David R will not be allowed to post bail.  It was suggested that if we wait a few days, they may be willing to pay us to take him back.

 2.   2.   Mr Tico V is the first club member this year to catch a fish that weighs more than he does.  He wins a free meal in the clubhouse restaurant. Here is Tico with his catch.  The free meal is for the first of the year. For the rest of the year, those who catch a fish that weighs more than they do will only receive one free drink.

3.     George has provided the list of required supplies for those participating in the Mason Lake trip.  In order to attend, each member must bring three bottles of Jack Daniels, one bottle of tequila, three cases of beer, one bottle of rum and a bag of potato chips.  Those under the age of 12 only need bring one bottle of Jack Daniels and one case of beer.

4. Ms Genevieve LeBoutiller of the Housekeeping Department would like to call the Board of Directors attention to the fact that last year Brett W organized a French Maid Contest in which first prize was a romantic evening with Brett.  She won first place by making a king size bed, ironing a ruffled tuxedo shirt and gutting and cleaning a 20 inch trout in 98 seconds.  She has not received her date with Brett and she believes he has no intention of fulfilling his commitment.  It was decided that this is not a Board matter, and she should take it up directly with Brett.

5. The Directors would like to recognize the persistence of Tico V, who has won 3rd place in the Best Mustache on Mason Lake for the 11th year in a row.  First place went to our own Ms Genevieve LeBoutiller of the Housekeeping Department at the Carp and Crow Club.
